My grandfather's shelf

This antique piece of furniture belonged to my grandfather. This shelf used to rest on his desk and contained all his tax and work related text books. When my grandfather passed away, my father wanted to keep it just the same way and did not let us touch any of the books. My father was very sentimental about the books and it remained that way for almost 2.5 decades. Then one day, he moved on - don't know how and decided to discard this shelf. The next time I went to my parent's place this shelf was empty and dumped under the bed. How happy I was to see it - I got this to my Bangalore home and it sits pretty in my living room now :-)

Adorned with wooden step box with hand painted ceramic drawers, which I am in love with. Isn't it a fairly new thing doing its rounds. I doubt if it is associated with any state or any particular art, but they are totally gorgeous. The glass jar is filled with shells I got from Ramehswaram and the cute car, which I could not resist buying when I went to some gift shop to buy a birthday gift for a small boy. And of course - books, some read, some waiting to be read.
